Small Spaces, Grand Gestures: An Apartment Interior

Small apartments punish indecision. Every centimetre must earn its place, and every material choice is visible from everywhere. This 10-marla apartment in DHA was a study in doing less, better.

One material, many jobs

We limited the palette to oak, off-white plaster and brushed brass. The oak runs from the kitchen into the living joinery into the wardrobe shutters — one continuous gesture that makes separate rooms read as a single calm space. Restraint is a space-making tool.

Light in layers

No single bright ceiling light anywhere. Instead: cove light for ambience, spots for tasks, and low lamps for evenings. Three circuits, three moods, one small apartment that feels different at 9am and 9pm.

Storage as architecture

Full-height joinery walls absorb everything — the TV, the bar, the study nook, a kilometre of books. When storage is architecture rather than furniture, small rooms stop feeling furnished and start feeling designed.
